Patrick Carter, Bloom, 2017, 4.25 minutes.

An established artist and performer, who has worked with DADAA since 2007, Patrick Carter has demonstrated is adeptness across art forms, including painting, dance, performance and musical compositions. Patrick’s new work for Mixed Reality, is the first of a series of three film works.

As with all his works, Bloom is a personal meditation exploring health, wellbeing and vulnerability. Set in a hospital, a space traditionally associated with healing, Patrick appropriates the sterile and isolated medical room which he sees as devoid of emotional or familial connection, to create an alternative space for his own recovery.

The following two videos for Bloom (currently in development) will see Patrick take control of his own healing, as he continues to seek out alternative environments for his own recovery.

NOTE: BLOOM is still in production with parts 2 and 3 and will be exhibited in 2019 as part of REVEALED, Fremantle Arts Centre.

Liam’s distinctive animations, characters and tongue-in-cheek plots are here translated into stop motion animations for Mixed Reality. Although playful and witty, his complex storyboards and multi-layered characters explore urgent themes related to the influence of popular culture, sexuality and relationships.
